ABOUT

Since Common Story launched in January 2020 in a shed in Warwickshire, our ambition has been to produce content that puts the West Midlands and its creative industry back on the map. This is a region bursting with character, talent and untapped stories, and we’ve only just begun our journey to unearth its potential.

We specialise in unscripted programming for TV, Radio and Non-broadcast platforms.

TELEVISION: Our first broadcast commission was ‘Filthy Business’, a 30-minute documentary for BBC Three. Since then we have developed and produced ‘I Can Do It You Can Too’ , a new 30 x 14 minute factual entertainment series for CBeebies which first aired in November 2023. We are currently in pre-production on Series 2.

RADIO: We’ve produced two series for BBC Asian Network. The first was a 7 x 15 minute documentary series to mark 75 years of Independence featuring artists and influencers reflecting on their Indian and Pakistani heritage, and what is means to be British Asian. The second was a 3 x 30 minute documentary about legendary hip hop artist Sidhu Moose Wala presented and narrated by Bobby Friction. Listen here on BBC Sounds.

NON-BROADCAST: As a preferred supplier to the Open University we are privileged to work closely with academic teams on audio visual materials for degree modules and short courses. Filming has taken us across the UK and around the world, exploring topics as far ranging as colonial legacies, the climate crisis, and assisted dying. We have also produced a series of short films on Sustainability for Warwick University.
